Gary Peoples — “GP”

Just a little something about me. My name is Gary Peoples, better known as GP, and I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas—a city that, during some of its darkest years, earned the nickname “Murder Worth” because of all the violence and killings.

The Peoples name was well known around Fort Worth, and violence hit home for me at an early age. When I was just a kid, my dad was shot in the head. That trauma planted something deep inside me. Instead of knowing how to deal with the hurt, anger, and pain, I became consumed with wanting to kill, steal, and destroy.

Eventually, I joined the military. In my mind, I had found a place where I could get paid to do what I had already trained my heart to do. But when I got out, that training—and everything I carried inside—came right back home with me.

My choices eventually landed me in prison with a seven-year sentence. After getting out, it only took 11 months before I was right back in trouble—this time facing two life sentences and 99 years for aggravated robbery.

But sitting in that county jail, something happened that no prison sentence, no military training, and no life on the streets could ever do: Jesus Christ got ahold of me.

I ended up serving 32 years, 8 months, and 25 days behind prison walls. But the greatest prison I ever needed freedom from wasn’t made of concrete, steel, bars, or razor wire. I needed Jesus to save me from myself. And He did.

Today, my life can be summed up by the scripture I stand on: Galatians 2:20 — “Not I, but Christ.” The man I used to be had learned how to kill, steal, and destroy. But Jesus gave that man a new life, a new purpose, and a testimony. That’s my story. That’s GP. And that’s what Jesus can do.

Testimony

Frankie Peoples

My story is a testimony of the redeeming power of Jesus Christ.

At a young age, I experienced sexual abuse that left wounds in my life I didn’t know how to understand or heal. By the age of 14, I had found myself caught in a life of drug addiction and prostitution. I was searching for something to take away the pain, but the things I turned to only brought more bondage.

For years, I lived in darkness. Drugs, brokenness, and demonic oppression became part of a life that seemed impossible to escape. I didn’t know how to free myself—and the truth is, I couldn’t. But Jesus could.

At the age of 28, I finally came to the place where I surrendered my life to the Lord. And when I submitted myself to Him, Jesus began doing what I could never do for myself. He delivered me from demonic oppression and began breaking the chains that had held me for so many years.

My journey did not become easy overnight. I spent two years in prison, but even prison could not stop what God was doing in my life. What could have been the end of my story became another chapter in God’s work of restoration.

When I was released, I knew my life could no longer belong to the things that had once controlled me. My life belonged to Jesus.

In 2023, I moved to Houston and began pursuing the purpose God had for my life and learning what it truly means to be successful in the Kingdom of Heaven. My definition of success changed. Success was no longer about what the world said I should have or who the world said I should be. It became about surrender, obedience, serving Jesus, and allowing Him to use the very life the enemy tried to destroy.

Then God added another beautiful chapter to my story. In 2024, I married my husband, Gary. Today, we serve the Lord together through CSWGP Ministries, sharing the hope, freedom, and truth that can only be found in Jesus Christ.

When I look back, I don’t see a life that was too broken for God. I see a life that proves there is no pit too deep, no bondage too strong, and no past too dark for the saving and delivering power of Jesus Christ. I was abused, but that is not my identity. I was addicted, but addiction does not have the final word. I was in prostitution, but my past does not define my worth. I was imprisoned, but Jesus made me free.

The enemy tried to use my past to destroy me, but God has taken what was meant for destruction and is using my life for His Kingdom and His glory. Today, I know who I belong to. My life is no longer about me. It is about Christ living in me. “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.” — Galatians 2:20. That is my testimony. Not I, but Christ.

Our Shared Verse

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.”

Galatians 2:20 (KJV)

King James Version: “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

English Standard Version: “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
